An authentic expansion of the habitual state of consciousness leads us to fully live the present, the present experience. From this perspective, it becomes possible to connect to the spiritual potential that provides us with inspiration and wisdom. The development of attention oriented towards observing fluctuating states of mind leads us into the present.
There is perhaps a phenomenological dimension to the here and now, which is achieved with the development of non-judgmental observation of the flow of mind. I would define this as “psychological”. Instead, the “transpersonal” here and now is achieved by developing a non-judgmental observation of the flow of mind, in the presence of Self-awareness, which is the center of transpersonal consciousness.
The first dimension belongs to the ordinary ego, while the second belongs to the Self-aligned ego, more advanced than the previous one. Ken Wilber’s integral psychology aspires to this development.
